Jackie Ranston

Jackie Ranston is a researcher/writer specializing in Jamaican historical biography. Her published works include They Call Me Teacher, a biography of the life and times of the late Sir Howard Cooke, Governor-General of Jamaica and a member of the Friendly Lodge 383 of Montego Bay. Her study of the Jamaican artist, Isaac Mendes Belisario, Sketches of Character, won the Book Industry Association of Jamaica's Awards for Best Academic Book, and Best Adult Non-Fiction in 2008. Born in London, England, Jackie has resided in Jamaica for the past 47 years after her marriage to Jamaican graphic designer and book illustrator, Dennis Ranston. Together with her husband, and children, Jackie runs a publishing company focusing on Early Childhood Education, and heritage studies.
