Do you really mean 'Everyone can play?'

    The short answer is, Yes!

This is true even if you have never played before, but most people already have some knowledge, even if it was music lessons at school 60 years ago. If you have ever seen a diagram like this one, then you already know more than you think you know.

The notes for the right hand to play in the music in this book are mostly those shown  in the diagram above. The left hand one-finger-chords only use the single notes of C,D, E, F, G, A, Bb and B and you do not have to read the music as they are all written down for you.

All the music in this book is able to be played using two or three fingers and with a very basic musical knowledge. You don't need any manual dexterity to play you can even do this with two pencils! So how do you play the music? There is a more detailed guide inside the book.

You will undoubtedly remember a time when you found learning Ritual daunting, this is easier than that! Indeed great results can be obtained from just a few hours of practice. I wish it had been that easy to learn the Ceremonies for the Chair! As I also say inside the book, last but not least, enjoy the process of experimentation and learning. Your Lodge or other Masonic Unit will appreciate the effort you have put into your learning, and will certainly appreciate the enhancement you make to the Ceremonies and Meetings.

If the first place that someone is made a Mason is ‘In Your Heart then W/Bro Colin Jackson has been one since the age of 13! From that age he was playing the Organ regularly at various Masonic functions in and around his native Leicestershire. He was educated at Loughborough Grammar School and achieved qualifications from theLCM and RCO as well as being a regular performer on the Organ Club circuit. He subsequently completed aBSc(Hons) and an MEd in Mathematics and its Education. Before he was even a teenager, he was a Teacher of Organ, Piano and Keyboard. Later he also taught Singing and Musical theatre to Private pupils. He combined this with a first career of being a full time Actor, Singer and Musician. He now combines it with being a schoolteacher – teaching Maths! In the early 1980s he hosted a show about organ music on local radio and this led to a weekly feature on the same station where he taught a Presenter to play live on air over a period of 13 weeks; taking him from complete novice to performing a ‘Guest’spot at a local Organ Club.He was first proposed into Freemasonry in 1985 but ended up moving to Rhodes in Greece in 1986 before he could be Initiated. Whilst there he combined his evening work as an Entertainer with running many of the Masonic tours of the city of Rhodes, especially in relation to the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitallers. This is where he first became involved in Masonic Research and the presentation of Masonic Papers, an interest which has continued to this day. Indeed, Lewis Masonic will be publishing a book of those Papers and Lectures in 2022.He is married to Ingunn and has two children, Maria and PaulJørgen who are both in their Twenties. He speaks reasonably fluent English, Norwegian, French and Greek and has a working knowledge of several others. As this book goes to press, he is currently Provincial Grand Organist (or equivalent) in five Orders. Part of his current ‘mission’ is to replace unsatisfactory Organs in Masonic Centres in the Provinces of East Anglia in order to make it easier for live music to be heard in our Lodges again.

So much better than electronic music in lodge. For those who played a bit of guitar back in our younger days, this is the easy way to play keyboard in lodge. Excellent, this has been needed for some time. Well done.

A brilliant well thought out and presented book. If like me you were taught piano as a child and would now like to play the organ in your lodge, then this is the book for you.
