  • THE AUTHOR
    Kim March

Kim March was born in Hastings, East Sussex in 1955 and was brought up in the hurly-burly of a large council estate. He attended Hastings Grammar School for Boys leaving at 16 to join the Metropolitan Police Cadets. In his early 20s he left the police service to take his first print media job. This change revealed an innate creative, entrepreneurial drive, providing the impetus for a successful career in niche marketing services and educational publishing. He married wife Sue, in 1979 who continues to listen to his ideas and generally put up with him!  He is a self-confessed creative thinker and has been blessed to bring several of his educational concepts, both Masonic and non-Masonic, into published reality. He has worked with a wide range of domestic and international corporate clients, speaking at major marketing conferences. Having sold his business interests in 1999, he and Sue relocated to the Shropshire Hills. As a keen hill walker, he became a trustee of a struggling children’s outdoors adventure charity. In 2012 both he and the charity won two social entrepreneur awards for the successful implementation of his recovery business plan.  Kim was Initiated into The Longmynd Lodge No 4877 in 2001; joining the Salopian Lodge of Charity No 117 in 2006, serving as Master in 2013. Challenging health circumstances resulted in a short break from Freemasonry in 2016, but he stayed in touch with the Craft by drafting The 5-Minute Ritulist – an easy to follow and proven ritual memory system.  He is presently a member of Powis Lodge No 7355 (Welshpool; North Wales) a Lodge he previously visited on numerous occasions, sometimes walking the 23 miles from home. He is also a member of Sabrina Lodge No 4158 (Shrewsbury; Shropshire) serving as WM in 2025/26. Now retired, he and Sue have taken to exploring the great outdoors further afield, including trips to the Antipodes, South America and Africa For the 7 years to 2025, Kim crafted and designed the Friends trilogy of mentoring books. These are not written in an academic style but rather in a reader friendly, general interest, story-telling format. The books also observe the protocol of maximum information; minimum amount of space – they all move at pace to keep boredom at bay! The Master Mason’s Friend topped the best seller list in January 2026. Kim also gives several popular Masonic talks including a medieval themed demonstration of his ritual memory system and the demystification of the various Craft ceremonies. He can be contacted by email at 5MinRit@gmail.com.
