  • DESCRIPTION

This remarkable late 18th century manuscript in the Ferguson collection is an enigmatic and alluring work. It has no text but consists of a series of 52 circular coloured drawings. These appear to depict the cosmos emerging out of chaos. Many of the images show interior worlds, and a number have little animal and human forms within them, even winged angel forms and depictions of mercurius. A work like this can probably never be understood. Instead it should be viewed as an alchemical artwork and just appreciated for the way it depicts its message. It is one of the treasures of later alchemy. Its origins are as mysterious as its subject matter.

This volume includes a short introduction by Adam McLean and the images have been reproduced in colour. As the colour printing is expensive only 125 copies were ever produced. This is truly a collectors item.

Limited edition of 125 signed and numbered hardbound copies. 112 pages. 52 coloured illustrations.
