Throughout its long history Freemasonry has attracted many remarkable men to its ranks; this booklet tells the fascinating life stories of three such Freemasons. The adjectives 'good', 'bad' and 'ugly' have sometimes been unfairly used about them, but as you will learn none of them was all good, all bad, or truly ugly.

Their fascinating and sometimes surprising life stories contain both light-hearted and serious elements; so they will appeal to a wide Masonic audience, both students of Masonic history and those Brethren just seeking to be entertained or intrigued. The 'Good' is Dr. George Oliver, the well-known Masonic historian; the 'Bad' is Sir Francis Columbine Daniel, a Masonic 'Del Boy' who is said to have surreptitiously obtained a knighthood; and the 'Ugly' is Chevalier Charles D'Eon de Beaumont, a notable Mason who was also a spy and history's most famous cross dresser.
