    Brian Ward Price was born in Ruislip in 1942 and educated at Harrogate Grammar School, and the University of Manchester from which he graduated in 1963 as a Bachelor of Technical Science. After a short period as an Industrial Chemist in the Textile Industry, he joined the Royal Air Force and served in Malaysia, The Middle East, The United States, Germany and Belgium. During his Royal Air Force career he returned to the University of Manchester, gained a Masters degree in Management, and spent several years in Operational Research. He was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1992, and retired as a Wing Commander in 1997.

    He was initiated in the Spa Lodge No. 7609 in Harrogate in 1969 and is a Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in the United Grand Lodge of England. In overseas constitutions, he has held membership of Fairborn Lodge No. 768 in Ohio, USA and Chevalier Ramsay Lodge No. 4, Regular Grand Lodge of Belgium. He joined the Correspondence Circle of Quatuor Coronati Lodge in 1971, was elected to full membership of the Lodge in 2010, and served as Worshipful Master in 2017-18.

    He was exalted in the Royal Arch in The Spa Chapter in 1974, holds Senior London Grand Chapter Rank, and is a Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah in the Province of Yorkshire West Riding. He is a member of Rabboni Chapter No. 232, Supreme Grand Chapter of Ohio, USA, also receiving his Mark in 1982.

    He became associated with the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees when he received his Red Cross of Babylon Degree in Nathaniel Greene Commandery of Knights Templar No. 81 (Ohio) in 1982 and subsequently was received in the Order in England in Prince Edward Council [G] in 1985. He was installed District Grand Prefect for Yorkshire in 1997, appointed Deputy Grand Master in 2008 and Grand Historiographer in 2010. 

    Other masonic honours include Past Great Warden of Regalia in the Great Priory of Knights Templar; Past Grand Councillor in the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters; a holder of the 32nd degree in the Ancient and Accepted Rite; a Past Grand Seventh Pillar in the Grand College of Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests; and a Past Grand Banner Bearer of The Grand Priory of Knights Beneficent of the Holy City. He is also a member of the Orders of the Secret Monitor, Red Cross of Constantine, and is a founder and Past Master of the first Mark Lodge for Motor-Cyclists. 

    He is a former Private Pilot and Gliding Instructor, and his current interests, besides Freemasonry, include Genealogical research, classical music, camping, and walking. He is married to Julia and they have a son, a daughter, and three grand-children.
